The Pastor - Marcus Thomas
There are not too many Welsh men in Lurgan but Pastor Marcus
Thomas is one of them and even though, he’s been living in County
Armagh since September 1999, he still sounds like he is living in
one of the Welsh valleys.

Pastor Marcus with wife Pat
A former consultant with the Department of Employment, Marcus was
called to be a pastor of the Apostolic Church in 1995. His first
position was in the Apostolic Church in Tain (north Scotland)
before he crossed the Irish Sea to Northern Ireland. Today he
pastors two churches – the Bridge Community Church in Lurgan and
Portadown Apostolic Church.
It’s often said, “Behind every good man is a good woman”. Well
Marcus’ “good woman” is his English wife Pat who works as a
part-time family worker for a Christian charity as well as
supporting Marcus in the church. She is also the National Woman’s
Leader in the Apostolic Church UK.
Marcus and Pat have three daughters, Elspeth, Joanna and Angharad.
Elspeth lives in Kent and is married to Josh, an American youth
pastor at the
Ark church
in Dover. Joanna is at Warwick University studying Early Child
Development and Angharad is finishing her A Levels at Lisburn
Institute and is hoping to spend her gap year working as a nanny
in Italy.
Marcus has a heart for people and for overseas missions. This is
reflected in his preaching and serving within the community at
large. If you would like him to visit you, please
give him a call, drop him an e-mail or
come to the church.
Outside the church, Marcus is heavily involved in the planning of
the forthcoming visit of international evangelist Franklin Graham
who comes to Northern Ireland in March 2008. Marcus is leading the
prayer programme in readiness for the event.
And what does he do in his spare time? You’ll frequently find
Marcus at Belfast’s Odyssey Arena in Belfast cheering on the
Belfast Giants. Find out more. |
